Saint John Scholarship Granting Organization
It's NOT too good to be true! What you give to the Saint John Scholarship Organization (SGO) comes back to you.
You can support Saint John School students with scholarship assistance, and in turn, receive a 2024 tax credit when filing your OHIO income tax.
- If you owe income tax, your contribution to the Saint John SGO keeps your tax dollars local and satisfies your payment to the state.
- If you receive a refund, your refund will increase by the amount you contribute. In other words, "you get your money back” AND assist Saint John School students.
The State of Ohio has enacted a Tax Credit Scholarship Program where individuals may receive a 100% tax credit against their Ohio income tax liability for gifts up to $750 ($1,500 for married couples filing jointly through two separate $750 donations) to a scholarship-granting organization.
Just follow these three steps to contribute to the Saint John Scholarship Granting Organization:
1. Review your Ohio tax liability from last year (1040 IT, line 8c) to help estimate the amount of your Ohio tax liability for this year against which the credit can be taken.
2. Go to www.sjheralds.org/support or click the link below to make a one-time gift to Saint John Scholarship Granting Organization. Your gift must be made by April 15, 2025 to qualify for a 2024 Tax Year credit.
3. Claim your tax credit on your 2024 Ohio tax form with the tax credit receipt that you will receive after submitting your gift.
